Preventing Battery Overheating

Would removing the battery of an electric scooter and bringing it indoors into cool temperatures while the body stays in the heat help against any temperature and operating related issues that can occur? Of course the internal circuitry would still be susceptible to high temperatures, but is the battery more important in operation?

I would like to try to help you with your question, but I’m not 100% sure what you mean. What is your concern exactly that you are trying prevent? What model + brand scooter do you have?
Are you in a hot climate area and are you worried about your battery overheating?

Hi Paul I mean, I want to ride a scooter from my car in the parking lot to my building, but I’m most likely unable to bring a full electric scooter in the building, so I’d have to leave it out in the summer Texas sun. However, I was thinking that if I got a scooter with removable batteries, that I could for example keep the battery in my pocket while the body remains outside. I have not purchased or decided on a brand or model yet. This is hypothetical before I make the decision to buy a scooter.

Hi Mary, are you envisioning a “kick-scooter” or like scooter that looks like a Vespa scooter (sit down scooter) where batteries are under the seat it rides a bit like a small motorcycle?
In either case the battery packs are very heavy, and in most Kick scooters not removeable. (except $4000.00+ Dualtron scooters)
I understand your heat concern, maybe you can arrange with building management to find a spot on the main floor for you to store it safely if you ask? I would also be worried about someone stealing your (kick) scooter left outside as they can easily be picked up and taken. With inflation out of control, and real policing going downhill, expect way more petty crimes in the future. Scooters will be hot items to take.

That is quite… odd. Why would you not be able to carry a scooter into your building?

Hopefully you’ll be able to bring a e-scooter into your building. Trying to remove and carry a battery from a modern e-scooter would be like removing the battery from your car and carrying it around. And you’re certainly not going to be putting that in your pocket, unless you have some humungous pockets. Not something I’d want to do. Lol

I ended up buying a kick scooter. I’m not allowed to bring it into the building as it is a high security building and they provide outside bike racks. I also asked security. Luckily I only use it to and from my car to the building. I did try to bring it in with permission but it is not allowed by Security. Thank you for the help though!
