I have two scooters, because lack of availability of the one, I went with mechanical brakes on it. The other scooter has Hydraulic. The hydraulic brakes are definitely smoother and easier to work. However the mechanical ones work pretty good as well. If your scooter has regen braking, That works the same on either system so don’t forget that factor helps as well to stop you quickly.
