JimN For a week I’ve been trying to remove stripped screws on my brake disks with my Ghost. They were stripped by an overzealous drill jockey at the factory. I’m rapidly becoming a world expert on removing stuck and stripped screws. So far I’ve tried about 8 different methods and have only been able to remove 4 screws.
While I was looking up ways to remove stuck Loctite I found this information about red Loctite. Apparently it can be removed using brake cleaning fluid, which dissolves the Loctite. The recommended brand was CRC Brakleen. You apply it and then let it penetrate for a few hours.
I also found that in order to break the Loctite using heat you have to apply the heat “for a couple of minutes” rather than heating it up and then immediately letting it cool. Here are more details about this, and the site contains other articles about removing stuck bolts: https://knowhow.napaonline.com/know-how-notes-how-to-remove-red-threadlocker/
I hope you have better luck than I have so far!
