I have a Wolf King GT. I regularly ride 35 to 40 mile rides. Riding at 45 mph for extended periods is not unusual. I am beginning to get range anxiety since I have less than 30% left by the time I get home and my house is on a steep hill. The solution that I have come up with is charging at a Level 1 or Level 2 charging station. My research tells me that these stations use something called a J-1772 connector that runs at 220 to 240 volts. My 5 amp 84 volt charger works on anything between 100 and 240 VAC. My plan is to use an adapter from J-1772 to normal three prong plug (see picture). WARNING: this three prong plug will be 240v (not normal in USA) I will then plug my charger into this to charge my scooter. Eventually I will get a 10 amp charger. I know that I can charge this scooter at 10 amps 84v.
I started by mounting a waterproof Pelican case to my front forks with the J-1772 adapter mounted on this case. I will eventually put the 10 amp charger in this case and wire to my charging ports. I have just completed some of the work. (see picture)
Let me know what you think. I think that this will be a great way to add 800wh during a one hour lunch break. WARNING: I do not recommend this unless you really understand what your are doing.
