I am upgrading my scooter with a 1000W controller and 800W motor that are supposed to work. I found the info on a forum that is now “read only” on a west coast sellers website that is still online and functional.
This controller is supposed to replace the original controller, but in their words, “_Please note that only the original Ecosmart motor and controller are bolt-and-go and plug-and-play on the Ecosmart scooter and any other motor and/or controller would require custom installation and wiring to install_l.”
I will attach the original wiring diagram of the Metro to show how the controller was wired, and what my problem is. I will point out this important piece of information. The new controller does not have the separate small + wire going into the controller. Please note the inked in arrow pointing to the small wire.
So my questions are:
- Can I just connect the charger port directly to the batteries, or is there circuitry in the controller that is needed for the charging process?
- (and less important) The forum also said I should be able to get the battery charge lights on the throttle to work with this controller. ( I did keep the 6 pin connector and have tried the +36v from one of the connectors marked indicator to the appropriate pin and it did not light up the throttle lights.)
I have hooked up the controller and the motor does run as should.

Thanks in advance,
