Best time to buy?

Hi ESG community,
I finally pulled the trigger last November and bought my first electric, GoTrax GXL V2.

However, barely 2.5 months into use. It decided to give up the ghost last night. [Context: was riding downhill when the LCD and headlight went out, was never able to turn the scooter back on after that.]

I still love electric scooters and was actually looking for a reason to upgrade (the e-scooter bug bit me and now I have a need for speed 😅). I think I’ll be staying away from goTrax for the foreseeable future.

I live in the bay area, an hour away from SF, and it’s quite hilly.

Things I learned from my goTrax GXL V2 going into my next scooter.

Looking for:
-Dual Motors (to tackle hills)
-Range (20+ mile - Intended use as a last miler/scout scooter explorer, when my electric car is charging, possibly a commuter)
-Budget: sub $1,500
-Portability: 30-50ish pounds

I don’t want my next scooter to give up the ghost 👻 so easily, but I want a Ghost. An Apollo Ghost specifically.

My question for the ESG community:

What’s Apollo’s reputation for reliability in general and specifically the Ghost?
Are there any seasons or holidays to keep an eye out to get a good deal?
(You know, like how aftermarket car parts offer deals around tax return and black Friday, or previous year smartphones are on sale after big conferences of upcoming products, etc)

I’m kicking myself in the butt for not buying a Ghost last black Friday, and getting an Apollo Air free.

Any other scooters you think I should consider? (My second pick was the E-Move Cruiser)

Update:

Ultimately ended up pulling the trigger on the KaaboMantis Pro SE!

As fate would have it, Voro Motors just announced a sale today on it and it fit the bill nicely when stacked up against the Apollo Ghost and even beating it in some features. (i.e. full hydraulic brakes) for the price.

Used the ESG coupon code and got a free fast charger! Thank you ESG! 🙂

Can’t wait to potentially meet up with other rides in the bay area!

I believe The Ghost would be a good choice in that range of scooter and it will fill your requirements and then some. The quality is good and their headquartered in Montreal, so parts and support are not far and they speak English (and French lol) Hydraulic preferred but IMO not then end of the world if you get non Hydraulic.
Apollo definitely has long delivery times for some of their models so waits up to 2 months are possible so keep that in mind for a spring purchase. My Phantom took 2 months. Sign up for their news letters and their YouTube channel for upcoming deals.

Buddy in Hawaii had the Apollo Ghost and stem broke after 400 miles. He was told it is unfixable.

Without more detail that would be hard to explain. Did the scooter crash? Did the weld break where the stem attaches to the neck? Is the neck bent? Although not an easy repair, i don’t see why a new stem, bearings and bolts could not be exchanged out. Must be more to the story.
