My helmet is an HJC i70 which has an internal drop down sun visor so when it is warm out, I can just drop the sun visor and leave the main lens open and my eyes are still protected. Airflow is excellent and the cheek pads are removable and washable.
The gloves that I just bought are the Daisene x-ride. They have sliders for both the palm and the little finger. They are made of goat skin which is one of the best materials for abrasion resistance. I am reasonably sure had I been wearing these, I wouldn’t have torn the ligaments in my fingers.
I was wearing an old Hein Grekie leather motorcycle jacket which certainly prevented any road rash however it doesn’t have any armor. I think had I been wearing something with at least CE1 armor, I wouldn’t have broken my humorous in two spots or bruised my ribs.
My upper body definitely took the impact. What I am leaning toward is a lightweight jacket with full armor (elbows, shoulders, front and back. It needs to be light enough for me to ride during the summer and then when it cools down, I have a ski jacket that is kevlar reinforced, or my leather Hein Grekie that I can put on over.
The motocross armor is the cheapest but, I don’t want to be riding around with exposed motocross armor, it would also be weird if I stopped to go into stores. The armored light weight jackets are a little more inconspicuous. but good ones are not cheap but it is waaay less than the medical bills. I will let you know what I eventually decide on but I have another two months before I can get on my new scooter
