Apollo Explore Bricked after Rain

Apollo wants to charge me $200-$300 for water damage to the explore. WTF?? They are supposed to be rated IPX4

NOPE. Mine’s dead and they said there was water damage. Be prepared if you ever get caught in the rain. It’s dead.

Ugh! So sorry to hear it! We’ve done quite a bit of riding in the rain on our Explore without any problems. What component died? The controller?

Thanks for letting us know Bill. We’ll start recommending that folks avoid riding Explore scooters in the rain. At the time it came out, it was unusual for scooters to have an IP rating at all, so it was exciting that it had one.

Is the scooter back home now?

The only way to pushback is to rate every scooter at 7 or worse. No 10 marks unless its IP77 or so. Scooters are needed to real world conditions, not for indoors.

Have you encountered any IP77 scooters?

I’m hoping we will see some big moves forward in 2022. The Wolf King GT is a good example of generation to generation improvement in terms of display, motors and controllers, but still has room to improve inside the deck.
