Splach Mantis? Different than mantis 8?

Hey all, I recently got some emails about a “Splach Mantis” scooter launching this week. I’ve checked it out and as far as I can tell, it’s identical to the Kaabo Mantis 8/8 pro, except it’s currently cheaper. Any thoughts? (copyright?)

Also, how is the quality of Splach scooters? What about customer service?

JacobHorton JacobHorton Splach had a successful crowdfunded campaign and delivered to consumers, at least for the Turbo/Ranger, as far as I know. No idea on customer service though.

It def resembles the Mantis and could be rebrand or frankenscootered.

Looks like their warranty basically covers them sending you parts for self-repair. That could be a good deal for repair-inclined folks.

Jacob did you end up buying one of these? Or anyone else have any other info?
If not then i guess i will be the guinea pig.

Balthazar No, I didn’t buy one… I wasn’t sure I was ready to drop 1K into a company that I didn’t that much about… especially on a newly launched product. But by all means, if you get one I’d love to know how it works out! 🙂

I took a chance and ordered one from Splach.
Placed my order on the 6th and arrived on the 14 th.
It is from Splach but made by Kaabo. Everything looks great out of the box, put it together and upon inspection the front brake caliper seems to be out of oil, i need to open it to be sure. I sent a message to Splach and awaiting a response. This is the Plus version from Kaabo, it has semi hydraulic brakes ,which i dont mind ,a key to also turn the scooter on and also a front headlight with a electronic horn built in, it still maintains the mech horn as well..
Im really happy with my purchase so far. The scooter looks and feels great, im use to a segway es1L
Have it charging to test it out but first I need to address the front caliper..
Seems that Splach is out of the dual motor version, I may have got one of the last in stock.

Can anyone guide me where i can buy a brake refill kit for the hydraulic calipers?

Update to the brake caliper.
I sent Splach a picture via email and they requested a video, which i sent a day after. Its been almost a week since i sent the video and no reply as of yet.
Not looking good so far.

I replaced the part myself at my cost which I shouldn’t have had to do,I needed to have the scooter up and running and wasn’t going to not have front brakes that didnt work while riding in Manhattan.

Not Happy with customer service or lack of so far.
Total B.S. and unacceptable to take this long.

Sounds mostly in line with what Justin said… It’s unfortunate that there are so many good scooters spoiled by poor customer support. Hopefully, they’ll get back to you on the warranty/brake issue… but other than that the scooters been good?

I figured he was right and i was willing to take a chance.
Wish i had found what was a great deal on a pro version instead of this one sooner. Found a local seller with one for less.
The only other minor issue is the headlight wire is a bit to short and the connector keeps coming loose from inside the headlight housing when turning the front wheel all the way..
Besides the two issues I am happy with this one otherwise, so far so good.
The other thing i noticed are that the wheels seem to be out of balance and have a vibration when tested on a stand. Don’t notice it when im riding it though. I thinking most of these scooters are that way though.

Thanks for posting about this. I hadn’t heard from any Splach owners. We have the old Splach Turbo here, but haven’t had any interactions with their customer service.

Yeah, almost all scooter tires are a little out of round and a little out of balance.

You’re welcome.
I was able to pull some slack from the headlight wire and is now trouble free.
Does anyone know an easy way to remove the white lettering that says splach on the black frame without ruining the black color.

Sharpie ? 😆… I’m not sure w/o more info… do the letters appear painted on, or are they more like a sticker or something?

You can try a careful application of oven cleaner. Oven cleaner is really good at removing spray paint from automotive paint without damaging the automotive paint. If you try this, use a Q-tip in a tiny spot under the scooter first to make sure it’s not going to damage the paint you want to keep. If they are using automotive grade paint for the logo, then it won’t budge. But, if you get the oven cleaner from the dollar store, you’ll only be out a buck if it doesn’t work.

Also wanted to update that Splach ended up shipping me a replacement brake caliper, it took a while as they had it shipped from China.
I’m thinking someone at Splach possibly got wind of this thread and had the replacement part shipped out to me.
