Apollo Neck brace upgrade

Just wanted to drop a few photos and comments on the neck brace upgrade on the Apollo Phantom. I received the modification parts to help deter the neck area from cracking as apparently there is a very tiny percentage of scooters having this issue. So points here:

1) I cannot find the video on the Apollo channel chowing how to mount the upgrade as they say in their emails? It’s an easy installation but why claim there is a video when there is not?
2) the cable going to the controller in the base platform IMO is to tight in the brace and it is a sharp friction point when turning the wheel, I’m going to put something in front of the cable so it does not touch the sharp corner. It would be nice if the cable had just a little more play.
3) the screws provided in the kit work fine for 3 out of the four holes in the brace. The bottom right screw however is going to be a new hazard. When you turn the steering column. the screw head hooks the brake cables and you can’t turn the scooter. I’m replacing that screw with a low profile pan head screw so the cable will not hook on it. I suggest Apollo looks at this as well and addresses this.

Just wanted to add a picture of my fix for this. I replaced the hex head cap screw with a pan head screw so the cables do not catch the head of the screw anymore.

I must say I’m very surprised to see in this video that all the screws are Pan head as I suggested in my post.
You can see what they sent me on my photo’s. They do not address the wire friction on the sharp bottom edge of the brace. The bottom lip should have a slight curve downward on the edge so its rounded against the wire sleeve.

Also interesting, is how comments are turned off on this video, and the like to dislike function is set to the style where one can’t see the ratio between the two. That’s 100% a PR tactic.

It is great that Apollo has come up with a fix but also unfortunate that it is necessary. A buddy of mine had a similar issue with his Apollo Ghost after 400 miles of tame street riding but until someone comes up with a fix for his Ghost he owns a large paperweight. For these reasons and others I never recommend the Ghost or Phantom, but I do enjoy my Apollo Explore.

Interesting post. My question is - WHERE DO I GET ONE IN THE UK? Is all very well identifying a weak link but if you can’t fix it what do you do next? This is not how you sell vehicles that could potentially fail on you at any point. Leaving the customer high and dry and chewing asphalt…

On the right hand side is a blue “Support” button click that and it will take you to chat and ask their “Zen” desk. Although they can be slow as I have painfully learned, they will respond and you will at some point get a positive reply that will help you out.

I don’t see the neck snapping outright under normal driving conditions. I drove mine quite a bit under on and off road conditions. The neck is fine. I would be a little more concerned about putting it through maybe some pounding jumps where all the weight would land towards the front solidly bottoming out the suspension. (I have heard the back bottom out but never the front on mine) I’m probably also a lighter rider. 180 lbs / 82 kgs with backpack and my armored jacket on.

At this time overall after my first few months dealing with Apollo, putting that aside, the 2nd scooter i got from them has been pretty good and i have not had any major quality issues so far that others have had. Time will tell though.

Sorry for the late reply.
For me the neck brace was sent to me by Apollo as part of a warranty / technical upgrade. So directly from Apollo in Quebec in Canada. If your scooter has the thin neck they should send you one for free. Just go to their website, use their chat, and you can order one online.
