Anyone familiar with Joyor scooters?

I have been researching scooters for some time now. This is not a sales pitch by the way, it is simply the result of that research. There are many YouTube videos on the subject, but very few on Joyor scooters, and the XM900 in particular. They have a City of Industry, CA. address, which is in the same region as so many other e-scooter entities. They have a standard 2-year warranty (rare in the scooter industry) and 2-day shipping, meaning they’ve got US stock, and thus it’s not on the proverbial slow boat! Any yet, very few videos on them, or reviews in general, from the many websites like this one.
This creates a bit of a concern for me. Is there something I am not aware of (some bad history) concerning this company? Or are they simply not very good at promoting their own stuff? I had a Max G30 but it broke on a ride (it’s at the section titled, “why did you crash your scooter”). Besides, the battery in it (5 months in) was beginning to weaken; rides on fixed distanced trails that I took round-trip when it was new, it was not able to complete just after 5 months of use. Furthermore, it only goes 18MPH at best, and the range was 20 miles at best. Of course, nobody rides these on any setting but Sport mode; the others are just too slow for an adult.
So, they are refunding me so they can get it back to see why the structural failure occurred. And I’m seeking knowledge from people with way more experience with these devices; hence, why I’m here. I care most about durability and longevity, and then range. I do not want to be miles from home and pushing this thing back. Speed is not such an issue; going more than 30MPH on a stand-up scooter would be risky for most everyone. If I were younger and geared up, I’d push them faster; I’ll average 25 or so. I was looking at the Emove Cruiser 2021 version, in comparison the the Joyor XM900. Could someone give me their feedback after reading about them? Rec any comparable units too. Thanks much! PAA

Joyor is an interesting one. They actually have a handful of websites, apparently run by different entities (in addition to Joyor.us): Joyorscooter.com and Joyorscooters.com. The one without the ‘s’ is in Spain and the non ‘s’ one and Joyor.us are run by the same entity

Their prices / specs look good, but hard to compare apples to apples without actual testing. We had reached out to Joyor in the past about getting a loaner we could test but got not response. I’m guessing that’s probably why you haven’t seen much info on them anywhere.

I know how you feel about the Max (and based on your experience, I’d feel similar), but it does represent some of the best that’s out there, at least in terms of fit-and-finish. Definitely one of the better builds (though not as heavy duty as some of the beefier, pricier models). The Max we’ve had has seen a lot of pretty hard miles and has been Uber-reliable.

We’re still in the early stages of this new technology and unfortunately even the best is going to fall short of your expectations based on well-refined consumer products like the bicycle where even a cheap one from the bike shop is still quite good.

The Cruiser is a fantastic scooter. Certainly beefier than the Max, but I think slightly less refined and worse on the fit-and-finish of the ultra-mass-produced Max.

I bought the Emove Cruiser a month ago now; much better unit than the Max! I do not see what you mean by fit & finish, but that’s OK. It’s faster, longer range by 12 miles or so, smoother ride, handles better, and is all around beefier. They really cannot be side-by-side compared since they are in slightly different (proverbial) leagues. But your forum is really helpful to many; thank you Justin!

What scooter did you end up getting and do you like it?

The XM900 Joyor looks really nice! I just ordered a Joyor G5 from Amazon.

I wanted good suspension, a seat and under 40 lbs. Don’t care about speed or long distance, I’m older.

I agree, there aren’t many videos or reviews. The few detailed reviews were happy with the G5.

I also think that Joyor went through some growing pains and market niche planning. From some early reviews the remarks were more negative but as you move forward (2022), the reviews turn positive for the most part.

Joyor was founded in 2011 so it has had some time now to address customer issues.

At the time Joyor did not sell on Amazon, and without any reviews of it on ESG, I bought and love and am still riding the Emove Cruiser.

I have ride joyor scooter like 2 years.
Basic its spanish brand.
Scooters are simple and more or less for places with warm winters.
just average scooters with ok quality.
I think they just promoto in different ways.
Through the local distributors or something.
also if you are not scooter geek you will never know about esg or others scooter youtubers.
and example in here ultron is kinda popular brand. its like dualtron smaller brother decent dual motors scooters with speed to up 95 km h but still not of a lot of videos from usa and canada youtobers.

I ordered the Joyor G5 from Amazon. It is a decent scooter however they lied about the weight even without the seat.

They claim it weighs 38.6 lbs and state it comes with a seat. So even if the seat isn’t included in the 38.6 lbs (which it implies in the description) it is still way off. The seat with the post weighs 2.6 lbs.

We weighed the Joyor G5 scooter on 2 different scales and got the following;

Weight without the seat 43.4 lbs
Seat with post 2.6 lbs
Weight with the seat 46 lbs

So how did they get 38.6 lbs for the G5? It weighs 7.4 lbs more than what is listed!

I can’t lift this scooter into my hatchback. I need a scooter that weighs no more than 40 lbs total.

I’m looking at the Hiboy KS4 advanced communter scooter NOT the Pro. They claim it weighs 32.6 lbs without the seat and additional 4.85 lbs with the seat. So a total weight of 37.45 lbs. I could lift that. But I don’t trust any of these scooters companies on their listed weigh. They seem to list them lighter than what they really are.

Does anyone have the Hiboy KS4 not the Pro? If so, would you please weigh it without accessories and let me know the actual weight.

These companies should be honest about the weight. In my opinion this is false advertising!

I ordered the Hiboy KS4 advanced commuter directly from Hiboy.

Right after my reply to you, I got this message from Hiboy!
We asked our engineer to help me measure the real weight of the scooter and the seat together, and the total weight is 16.75kg(36.93lbs).

I can lift this scooter. I don’t care that it doesn’t go fast or far. I’m 64, female cyclist who needs to be able to lift this scooter into the hatchback of my car. I don’t need to carry it long distances.

ShelleyReynolds but if you lift One side in car and then pull up other side UP then its not more easy ?

I’m a 64 female, weigh 120 lbs, 5′6″. The problem is lifting it off the ground. Once I can do that then I can roll the front wheel in. I do work out with weights but I just don’t have the strength like when I was younger.

I ordered the Hiboy KS 4 advanced commuter, not the pro. Hiboy told me the weight of the KS 4 scooter with the seat is 37 lbs. I can lift that. My husband’s Joyor G5 scooter weighs 46 lbs. I can ride it fine but struggle to lift it more than just pivoting it.

My newest scooter is 122 pounds, Although i can lift it - why would I? one mistake and its hard to catch that weight going up some stairs for example.

May I suggest using a small plank of wood that you can lean on the rear bumper then just roll the scooter up into the hatchback. You can screw on a little opposing board and wrap a towel around the top end so it does not scratch your car and hooks on the ridge of the hatch gate so it is secure when you push it.. Then throw the plank in the car beside the scooter and take it with you to roll it back out… Rinse repeat.

I just received the Hiboy KS 4 Advanced Commuter. We weighted it without the seat and it is 33.3 lbs. I can lift it. I actually unboxed it myself. So I can already tell this is much more manageable for me.The seat is coming tomorrow. Right now, I am charging it.

I will say the app to connect it to the scooter was a nightmare. They don’t give you much time to get the code then enter it into the app. I finally got it after 7 attempts.

I’ll let you know how much it weighs with the seat.
