The only suggestions I can add are that I’ve heard of error 10 popping up when the little strip-magnet gets loose from the trigger and gets too close or too far from the sensor on the display.
If all else fails and you have to order parts to diagnose by swapping, I’d start by replacing the display because it’s less expensive, and then motor controller after that. You can often see signs of heat damage (but not always) when a motor controller fails, so if you’re not seeing any brown marks on the connectors or circuit board, then that’s one more vote in favor of the display.
