Keeping your Ride from Rusting (Beach Edition)

I use a solvent called Salt-Off, there is a spray pump (windex style). I lightly rinse, use a hand held whisp broom then spray all metal parts with a coat of Salt-Off. Then I wipe it down to evenly coat.

Any other tips?

I used to use WD-40 but then found out later that it could degrade certain types of plastics so I stopped doing that.

The best type of handheld whisk broom is one I found at a hardware store with stiff poly bristles. This thing works wonders for a quick clean up (knocking the dirt, sand, and debris off)

I’m a huge fan of WD-40 for targeted application on metal parts. I agree that it’s dicey to use it on any sort of plastic or rubber.

For plastic and rubber, there is no cleaner in the world that beats this stuff below. I literally considered it to be a little bit of a trade secret when I owned a motorcycle shop. It’s expensive, but I buy it a couple gallons at a time, because I worry they will stop making it at some point.
