Well, I got warned by a police officer, a few days ago, that my scooter was illegal. There was a pilot project for the last 3 years, it’s been renewed. They only allow so far, the GeeBee scooters. They’re over 2,000 $ CDN. each And he could hand me a fine next time.
It’s ridiculous, how are you supposed to study how scooters could be legalized if only one model in 3 years has been the accepted one, and it’s an expensive one. Not too many people have one.
They don’t refuse other brands but the brands/ makers etc have to apply to be included in the project.
Do they reject any? I don’t know.
Anyway, it was the first time in 9-10 months of riding scooters that a police officer stopped me. I have come across many patrol cars that never said anything. Maybe it’s excessive zeal?
I see more scooters than before, and EUCs. Well, I keep riding, hope it was a rare incident and hope we can do something to get laws to change and allow these things even if training was required.
