Great question! Suspension-wise you should be good. Traction and tread wear won’t be as good, and wet traction may be much worse. One of the problems with solid tires is that the materials that work well for compliance and good road feel, are different from the materials that wear well, and give good traction. The Segway Ninebot E22 has the best example of an airless tire that I’ve seen. It looks like they’re using a polyurethane foam core, inside of a more-or-less conventional tires. So one material for compliance and one material for traction/wear. Hopefully more and more of this style of tire will be available in the future.
Have you been able to find solid tires of the right size?
