I’ve stopped riding motorcycles but still have all my gear. Wearing a helmet is a good idea when you are riding something with 8″ wheels that could spit out from under by merely running over a small rock.
I do have half shell, ¾ helmets and full coverage helmets and even dirt bike stuff.
My first thought was to grab the dirt bike helmet. Nah… changed me mind. I’m thinking there’s got to be something better.
Don’t laugh too hard at this but I found a helmet at a pawn shop that is prefect. Lightweight with plenty of serious coverage and ventilation for when it’s hot out.
It is an All Star BH3000
That is an interesting looking helmet for sure… why not just use a full face motorcycle helmet?
Don’t do it!
This type of helmet it not rated for / designed to stay on / handle crash from vehicles.
Definitely get a CPSC bike (or equivalent) certified helmet or use a DOT motorcycle-style (or equivalent) if going faster. These helmets are tested to very different standards than bicycle or motorcycle helmet.
One of the reasons I wanted to get away from something like a full coverage dirt bike helmet is the lack of ventilation. Riding in 100º isn’t fun.
I just thought because I won’t be going very fast, (1517 mph) it would be fine. Forgot about it coming off after hitting the ground.
Rickysride You should be good with a regular bike helmet, then.
Full face is preferred unless you really are taking it easy.
Most bike helmets have pretty good ventilation your so head won’t cook.
