Why did you crash your electric scooter? What we can learn from it?

2 crashes since my last post

I rode into some dirt off the sidewalk and it was very soft and loose, my front tire stuck in it and I flipped over the handle bars. Helmet, knee/shin shoulder, and elbow padding all took hits.
I had the bright idea to ride snowboard style, on the street I was going fast enough for me not to notice the danger of it, but going up a sloped curb onto the sidewalk at low speed I realized there is no way to balance in that position on 2 wheels. Helmet, knee/shin shoulder, and elbow padding all took hits.

I love my gear, it is cool light and compact enough to fit on/in my backpack. Not needing surgery is worth the knee pad jokes

Not trying to be a snot here but I haven’t crashed on my scooter yet in almost 10 years of riding the little buggers. I do wear a helmet of some sort and gloves when riding, but everything else is a crapshoot depending on the weather. I’m guessing the 50+ years of motorcycle riding, both on road and off-road has helped me a lot in the reflex department and making judgements on surface conditions and terrain.
So the lesson here is to keep riding, pay attention to what’s in front of you, don’t ride over your head and your skill level will improve over time. The one thing one can’t improve upon are some of the idiots sharing the road with you, so always pay attention to your surroundings and any vehicles or people nearby. And always remember this, just because you make eye contact with someone, whether they’re in a vehicle or on foot, don’t assume they see you or are going to give you the right of way, because more likely than not, they won’t. Stay safe out there. 😃

I never know where my ride takes me so if I’m going down something like this, I want a little extra protection and don’t care about comments from others. Also where I live, i find drivers are very distracted now. People pulling U-turns right in front of me with no signal.

We don’t have much of that green and dirt stuff around here to ride on. Mostly just asphalt, concrete, metal lamp posts, and iron monsters with large jiggly beasts inside texting on their phones instead of paying attention to what’s in front of them.

justin Hey justin i actual sugest you peeps show the pictures of how bloody the result was. And maybe guys who make esg videos can make some videos and show peeps what can happen if you dont wear protect gear on even small speeds.
also would be great if in some video you share intel what happen if you install children handle bar and let children be with you on scooter and what happens when you fast use brakes.
also would be nice if video has about riding in tandem like two peeps on one scooter.

The first time I crashed on a scooter, the crash was not serious. The crash was not a problem with the quality of the car, but because I drove too fast, and when the car suddenly appeared in the front view, I didn’t have time to dodge. Fortunately, I was wearing all the protective equipment I was supposed to wear, so I only suffered minor injuries. The performance of my electric scooter is really good. The brand is Boyueda. If you are interested, you can really try it!

Had my first one yesterday. Was riding in the bike lane alongside traffic doing 50kmh (my usual ride to work). I started to slow down because of the upcoming intersection (cars are known to randomly turn right across the bike lane), when the car beside me started to creep over and pinch me in the bike lane. I saw him and jammed the brakes. He suddenly threw on his signal and turned right in front of me. I ended up down on my knees, and then I shoulder tackled his right rear fender.

I was wearing my usual gear (motorcycle helmet, Lazyrolling armored jacket, Lazyrolling armored jeans, gloves with sliders) so I literally felt almost nothing.
Ended up with a scratch (damnit) on my scooter, my left arm/shoulder feels like a got a covid shot yesterday and a stubbed toe. Very minor soreness.

So gear up, it works.

What did I learn? Drivers here suck.

2muchcoffee4me Sorry to hear of your encounter with a lower life form (drivers who don’t pay attention), but glad there were no serious injuries. Also sorry to let you know that sh*t drivers are everywhere.

Hit a small rise in the pavement and lifted the front wheel. My weight went back and rolled on more finger throttle. Looped out and landed on right arm. Tore ligaments in wrist and shoulder. Took skin off hand. #newscooterrespect

What a great thread, especially for novice scooter rider? Thank you Justin for starting it! I wonder if this thread should be pulled as a separate topic on discussion board, so members can add their experience. I have to make my son to read it, so we can learn from other people experience.
