Please do not buy a Rion until you see others receiving their units. I had to send my Thurst back for repairs and 20 months later still haven’t received it back. I sold my Weped SST and got Dultron X limited and pre-ordered Numo Slack core gr 20 it looks to be of better build quality. Rion Thurst performance is awesome but poor build quality.

DagwoodStreets unagi is garbage I am a shop owner of one of the largest scooter shops in California (Wheelz Scooters) and I have nothing but horror stories of unagis. Dualtron used to make great scooters but the newer designs have electrical issues with controllers frequently and changing tires is a damn nightmare which sucks because it’s the number 1 thing that gets repairs no matter the model. Weped makes a damn good product I stand by that. Inokim ox oxo and rs are the smoothest suspension smoothest riding scooters I’ve ever ridden (I’ve ridden just about every major model and dissected them as well) rion was at their prime with the re series but dropped the ball on upholding quality level especially by not using their proprietary battery tech that they used in the limited re series which was copper sandwich tabs for the connections in both directions and braided copper wire which was a leap in quality that’s been seldom seen in mass production. Speedway was the best in my opinion of minimotors with them using ahead of its time pouch cell batteries which were brilliantly long lasting batteries which could output a hell kf alot of current. The downside was the lifespan when used heavily and especially when riding the speedway 5 at top speed all the time was definitely the downfall of that necause they used crappy bms. I could go on forever. So to make this simple. 3 brands that I stand by for what it’s worth and that’s 15 years working on pevs, Nami makes a badass powerhouse of a scooter it’s got one hell of a great model the burn e.max line which is excellently designed. Quality is very hard to hold a flame to and they are constantly revising their designs and improving every thing they find that isn’t quite up to the high standards they hold. Inokim despite being a Chinese company there is something to be said about a powerhouse scooter that rides smoother than butter on a warm day on the shit streets we have in san jose which are guaranteed to take out a tire in under 2 months especially downtown. So the fact that they made their scooters just so smooth between the suspension and the takeoff and braking system to me its gold. Lastly but not least by any standards weped their lineup is unparalleled by anyone and will never be. They make the most eye catching brilliant designs and have the high speed game and comfort games down to a t. The sonic lineup and the expander are two of my favs with very powerful controllers that I’m yet to see a failed one it makes sense why they are so pricey but why they deserve to be so pricey as well. They make quality products and they don’t cut one corner in the process. Not many manufacturers can say that at all. Now I’m sure there are brands that are worthy but this is just my opinion which is backed by alot of time invested into understanding each component and how it compliments or inhibits a design. So for what it’s worth though since we started with a rion complaint which was valid I don’t care what anyone says it was valid as hell. The rion is merely using the afterglow of the exposure they got from the no longer existent because it was impossible to mass produce race edition (re) series the re80 re90 and very very limited re100 which were excellent scooters however it set the bar high for what they were supposed to uphold for the future but as many companies find out its not easy to turn a profit when creating a product that’s hand made and even harder when it costs so much of the msrp to make. They didn’t make much money off the re series that didnt go back into expanding to deal with demand and had they not decided to cut corners by spending less time on battery build quality which was the single most impressive feature followed by their proprietary controller tech which had braided copper phase wiring which is genius which they clearly decided to do away with as well then maybe they would still be in good shape but you can’t make the best model out there then cut corners on future models to save production costs when you are making a hyper scooter. That’s plain ludicrous….pun intended (ludicrous mode for those who don’t get the joke) feel free to chime In but my opinion is fact based and unbiased initially which eventually with time will turn into a biased or unbiased view which is only natural. Keep on riding is my shops motto so yall do just that!
