Adding suspension

I’ve been reading as much as I can trying to learn the do’s and don’ts of electric scooter ownership. Thank god for websites like this.
When studying the pros and cons of any given scooter, most of the cons come from either having solid tires or no suspension.
The tires are an easy cure. Stick with scoots that come with air. (almost no price difference)
BUT, adding the front and/or rear suspension and that kicks the price up fast.
Trying to keep the initial costs down to make sure I like riding before nuts. I plan on buying a Xiaomi Mi M365. Yes, it does have air tires but no suspension which I can add later.
So here is my question:
Is it OK to add front and/or rear suspension to this scooter or will I mess something up? The front looks straight forward with no ill effects. However by adding a shock to the back it adds overall length. How will this effect handling?

Rickysride i own a Z9 with built in suspension after first having an M365. suspension is worth it and if you’re just getting into scooters and want suspension, dont do the mod.

my buddy had the monorim upgrade on his Max. spent some $$$ on it and it ended up being jenky. it helps the ride but not as good as built in suspension and steering is off on his scoot now.

if i still had the M365 i would for sure do the dash upgrade.

Great questions!
I think the M365 is a great choice and the ride quality really isn’t bad at all, because of the air filled tires. I’m not a fan of doing major modifications, especially to smaller scooters. I have heard that it can affect the stability of the front end to have so much weight up there.

If you buy an M365 and ride if for 6 months, and then sell it, you should still be able to get most of your money back, and then you can upgrade to something that’s designed to have suspension.
If you spend a bunch of time and money changing the suspension, you’re really unlikely to get that money back when you sell.

Good points.
That’s why I asked.
After posting my original question I found something else I wouldn’t mind adding to the M385.
The Pro dashboard. After all, at the price of around $25 ~ 29, that’s not completely out of line spending. It would add great features which I could use.

OK, time to hit up Amazon. 😀
