Ninebot Max G30 vs Emove Cruiser

I live in Pittsburgh and I plan on using this scooter to ride to work year round, rain, snow, Pittsburgh weather! More rain than Seattle.

I am only riding 0.5 of a mile to work and back. I also would like to ride on the weekends for fun. The price difference between the two isn’t an issue. I’m looking for reliability and waterproof, I know resistant. But I’m also looking for speed and fun.

The Ninebot has internal IP7 rating and external IP5 vs the overall IP6 of Emove. Do I play it safe with the ninebot or will the Emove’s water resistance be enough? Please let me know your thoughts. Thank you all!!

Pittsburgh-Christopher I love the Cruiser, but if you are going to be regularly soaking the scooter, I’d trust the Ninebot Max a bit more.

The Cruiser is a better scooter overall (of course) and has a price tag to match.

You’re a brave man to be committed to arriving in the elements, so make sure you’ve got a good helmet and have a good sense of how the braking/traction changes when tires get wet.

Riding in the rain can get pretty tenuous.

It rains here every two to three days. I mean; I can delay myself from leaving the office if conditions are absolutely terrible. I really want the speed of the cruiser it just scares me it’ll get destroyed. I’m not going to be splashing around in puddles or anything.

If you aren’t just trying to optimize for water resistance and really test the limits of the IP rating, the Cruiser should be totally fine if you aren’t totally soaking or submerging. We’ve had a Cruiser for like 2 years and used in all conditions, even did some tests soaking it with a hose. Lots of people use the Cruiser in inclement weather daily with no issues.

The Cruiser is IPX6 rated, which technically means you can submerge it in 1 m of water for 30 minutes. I definitely would not test that, given that no warranty covers water damage, even if used within the parameters of their IP rating.

Commuter and weekender good for speed but can handle rain. Anything else you’d consider or should I go over to voro and spend the 1399?

The tl;dr is the Max is the best budget option, Cruiser is not cheap but no one ever regrets buying one, the Apollo Explore is probably the closest Cruiser competitor w/ less range and little cheaper. The the Fiido and Wolf Warrior also appear on that list, but don’t think that’s what you’re looking for.

Bottom line is you couldn’t go wrong with either the Max or the Cruiser. Both are great at their respective prices. I would go with the Cruiser if you’re down to invest more to get a machine that you’re going to put a ton of miles on. The Max maybe if you’re less sure about how much you’ll use. Max is a bit lighter, which is nice if you need to pick up frequently.

justin I bought mine in March. You’ll love it. You will want to buy the covers for your throttle/instrument cluster, that seems to be The Achilles’ heel as far as water goes. I rode a motorcycle year around, brave man.😂

Riding in rain and snow is a bad idea. I was in a Segway accident about 4 years ago I got tossed off onto my left elbow. A piece of bone broke off in my arm. The X-ray showed I needed surgery. I had a 6-hour surgery now I have a metal hinge for a left elbow. If you ride in rain and snow you might as well write out a will.

If you’re riding in Pittsburgh rain and slush all year, I’d lean toward the Ninebot Max G30 for the safer choice.
