Vsett 8 or Emove Touring?

Hi all,

I’m about to purchase my first scooter, and I have narrowed down to just two: Vsett 8 and Emove Touring. Just wondering what recommendation you’d give for a newbie. I mainly need it for commuting… I’ll need it to be somewhat compact so it doesn’t take up a lot of space in my car trunk. Also, since I live in the hills, I need something that can go up the incline (I weigh about 150; Berkeley CA hills…not SF steep, but still hilly enough). Thank you for you your help!! 😀

jmayo We haven’t tested any of the Vsetts yet, but the Vsett 8 is identical to the Splach, which we did check out.

At first appearance, the Touring and Splach/Vsett are fairly well matched, but I think the Touring edges it out significantly due to larger battery, longer (more comfortable) deck, despite being a few pounds lighter. Both are comparable in terms of top speed / acceleration. Touring also edges out on price depending on where you purchase from.

justin Hey Justin, do you guys have plans to test out the Vsett 8? It is high on my list, but the reviews I’ve watched are kind of all over the place.

The reason I am asking is because I’ve noticed some differences between the Splach and the Vsett 8, particularly in the voltage and motor ratings, and I am curious how it would impact acceleration and hill climbing performance.

Splach Turbo: 600W / 800W Peak
Vsett 8: 600W / 1100W Peak

Battery Size & Voltage
Splach Turbo: 10.4 Ah / 52V / 541Wh
Vsett 8: 15.6 Ah / 48V / 749Wh

As a follow up question. Do you think the Splach suspension combined with it’s 8″ tires (solid rear & air front) would be more or less comfortable than a scooter using more traditional suspension with 10″ air filled tires.

Thank you! What about the footplate over the rear wheel? Do you like it when there’s an elevated footpad so you can ride more actively? Or it really doesn’t make a difference in your riding experience?

jmayo Personally, I love it when scooter has the rear kick plate, but longer deck vs kick plate, I go with the longer deck every time. For Touring, the deck is 4 inches longer DESPITE the fact that both scooters have identical folded length. Hard not to go with the longer deck IMO.

Wow- great! Thank you for your advise! You mentioned in your first post that Touring can be purchased in different places… I thought one can only get it at Voromotors. Is there another place I can go to get my first scooter?

I think only VORO carries the Touring in the US, but depending on where you live there are EMOVE distributors in a bunch of different countries. For Vsett/Splach you have lots of options in US and abroad.

Awesome. Thanks! Well, I’m in the US so I’ll probably get it from Voromotors since I’m pretty set on getting Touring after reading your opinion. Btw, to be honest, I’ve actually never even being on an electric scooter. Do you know if there are any shops near Berkeley/SF Bay area where I can try one first? 😅 I don’t think it needs to be an Emove Touring… any scooter would do. Just want to get some experience of riding.

jmayo . Contact Voro. They might have someone close that will let you test drive one. They have a program for that.

jmayo PEV Worx in SF actually offers rentals of various scooters if you want to demo them for a while it’s a shop run by the Alien Rides one of the popular PEV YouTubers.

@MichaelKelley is also right, I think VORO has some demo centers set up in the area as well.

Sorry- one more thing. Are the tires on Touring more narrow than Vsett’s/Splach? Vsett’s are 2-in wide I think.

What type of riding do you plan to do? Evaluating what your goals are will help you narrow down your decision better. My final purchase (Apollo Ghost) was based on 2 friends real world use of Apollo products, a budget I set for my first escooter and the fact that it would be for playing around on. It meets my goals for power and ease of use. I have a set of PMT tires waiting for my first flat along with better tubes and tire liners. I currently have no urge to commute 14 miles each way to work on the Ghost. It’s just my ‘test the waters’ first escooter purchase.

Honestly I’m on the fence about the tire slime / seal additives really.

Probably really just be best to carry a small one dose bottle (or buy a big one and portion it down) and a lightweight hand pump in your handle mount pack or back pack and TEMPORARILY fix the puncture when it occurs on the road.

Once your sealant fixes a puncture, you might not even know you had one, and chances are coming off a curb an hour later it just blows it out anyway. I question the whole concept of tire sealants now. I feel they just slow down the puncture and are not a permanent repair

PaulN I really hate tubed tires because of how easy it is to get a flat I got a flat in the rear first ride then second ride front gets a flat. They really need to switch to foam fill tires or go tubeless or even solid my personal opinion

Totally agree, advancing tire tech has to be a priority for scooters. A tire change is not super simple on a scooter so they need to be made to get you as many kms as possible between tire services while still absorbing shock and having good control. Like memory foam / gel or something like that.

Flats are the worst! On my old ebike I had Tannus liners, Mr. Tuffy and puncture resistant Kenda tires. I got a flat thru the sidewall! Only experience with Slime stuff was less than great. But I still might try some for now. Easier than removing the wheels I guess. Oh, back to the original subject. That’s a hard choice. Let us know what you end up with!

Really tough choice I personally pick the VSETT over the Emove Bc of the turn signals stem light and the looks of the VSETT. Touring wins in color
