RideGOTRAX
I have a vacation property in Orlando very near to Universal Studios. They have quite a selection of rental scooters there, IMO they are mostly a novelty for people to try them out and zip around on them without any real purpose. Very occasionally I will see the odd person on a GoTrax or Ninebot doing some commuter riding like i do to stores and eateries, Using it for real commuting
My second location is Brampton in Canada, Luckily for me there is currently a 2 year test balloon there for e-scooters. So I am left alone by enforcement because I will just be lumped in as part of the test. However with our cold climate 6 months out of the year - i don’t see those 750 rental scooters moving much between November and May. Personally I like to own my own scooter(s) but i understand rentals can be a viable (but to me expensive over the long term - just look at the pricing of the Nueron’s in the link i have provided) option as well. Generally the people renting these scooters again are for novelty reasons rather than last mile or legit transport. Sometimes two people on one rental with no helmets double riding in traffic where bikes would ride… (need i say more?) I drive mine to work which is almost a 60 km ride in total. But even though i do this 3 days a week plus leisure ride other days, i barely see another person riding a scooter. I fully gear up and don’t care if people think I’m crazy, especially the one or two “one wheel” guys driving with a coffee in one hand and no helmet. My fear is there will be a lot of injuries and complaints about these irresponsible scooter riders and then I will be lumped in and punished when they get banned after 2 years like in Toronto, the big adjacent city.
