Hey, so I’ve never owned (or even ridden LOL) an electric scooter before but was looking to buy one in the next couple of weeks. Live in the northern Virginia area close to Washington D.C. (Fairfax County) and was looking to buy entry-level scooter for leisure (non-commuter) purposes, primarily to 1) get around town within 1-2 miles of my residence, in particular a shopping/entertainment district that’s ¾ of a mile or so from where I live, and 2) use on a paved walking trail that’s a mile or so from where I live, to ride maybe 5-10 miles up and down the trail.
Especially since I’m a new scooter user and would be using the scooter sparingly (mostly just occasionally on weekends) not looking to spend a lot on the scooter. Maybe $750 at the absolute most, but very strong preference for something like $400-$600 range or less if a decent one can be had for less.
I’m a fairly strong guy who works out regularly but would prefer something relatively lightweight and foldable (e.g., to carry around if I have to). At the same time, would also like something that could effectively be locked in place if needed. A foldable scooter also works much better for storage in my condo or car trunk.
I’m of “medium” weight (around 165 pounds) and wouldn’t need anything that goes over 20-25 mph.
Don’t need a seat for the scooter.
Some models I’ve been eyeing so far: Hiboy S2 (or maybe S2 Pro), NIU KQi 2, Volpam SP06. Was looking at Segway G30P but that one seemed a bit heavy relative to the others.
Any suggestions appreciated, thanks!
