Question

Did you need to end up removing the grips to remove the right side controllers to put on the left side? I was disassembling the scooter some last night and got stuck on that part and wanted to make sure before i removed the grips.

On a side note, i found it quite annoying that some of the allen screws used to secure the components were so many different sizes. Wtf NAMI? Very dumb design.

Preciate that. Also, are those bar end mirrors? I’ve been lookin for some mirrors without havin to get some massive sized ones. I could use a suggestion as long as they don’t vibrate crazy when going over road imperfections. I ordered some cheap $6 mirrors to try out which won’t arrive til next week but would happily spend more for a good quality mirror.

DubS It’s a bar end mirror, yes.
Amazon special. The NAMI rides pretty smooth, so it doesn’t vibrate enough to affect the vision. I may replace it with a smaller concave one though, as I keep whacking the mirror trying to get the NAMI through my front door, lol.

As an added bonus, because it lives behind the couch, the wife keeps whacking her head on the giant mirror when getting off the couch. Maybe I’ll keep it after all….🤣🤣

PS: I just got a Brake Free light for the back of my helmet. Not cheap, but it’s hella bright and works great.

I just want to find a specific mirror that isn’t too big and also looks like it belongs on the scooter. I’m not hopeful that the one I ordered will check the boxes but if it’s shit, it’s only a few bucks in the trash. Guess I’ll still keep looking for one.

I remember that pitch on shark tank for that no brake light. I like it but i don’t really ride my scooter or motorcycles at night so it’s just an unnecessary expense. Very cool though for sure.

ItsAqua Yes, and they are both awesome. The Blast Max is insane for a 60V scooter.

DubS Yep, you do. Loosen the tiny Allen on the both ends of each grip and they slide right off. No effort required. You need to pop out the plastic caps in the end of the bars also.
Lol yea, many sizes. They don’t build the switches, etc. They are all sourced from outside suppliers. That’s why you get a full set of Allen keys.

DubS No company on earth builds every component for electronics they sell. It is cheaper to buy in bulk from a company that is already specializes in, and is set up to build them in mass quantities. If Michael had to design and mass produce every single component on his NAMI himself, as well as purchase the required machinery to do it, NAMI scooters would be a lot more expensive.
Even Apple, who is the master of the electronics profit game, uses components from other suppliers.

Also, quit being a baby. If your complaining about something as simple as having to use more than one Allen key size, maybe you should not be taking it apart. 🤣😛

I thought my Ducati was a pain to work on which it is but even that doesn’t use as many different allen screws lol
Yea I’m just whining. I’ll get over it once it’s all completed.

DubS Hopefully you don’t develop the steering notch or have the flakey BMS like me.
I have BOTH those issues on mine.
It’s super fun having to spend 10 mins warming my battery pack to get it to turn on again after charging (randomly, not every charge).
I also have a pretty noticeable notch in the steering at the center point. I have just under 800kms on mine.

DubS Non related. The BMS issue is random. It’s a bad BMS in some units. I’m in the process of trying to get it fixed or the battery replaced under warranty. I’ve had it since day 1.
The notch you also may or may not get after putting some mileage on it. It’s also a known issue, depending on how they packed the bearings at the factory. I may have to take it apart and repack the bearings.

I see. I guess I’m not too familiar with what to look for with the notch in the steering. What does it feel like? What exactly happens?

DubS if it starts to do it, you’ll know.
There will be a noticeable notch at the center point, almost like a detent. If you turn the steering really slowly past the center point (straight), it will want to stay there.

Oh damn. Mines had that from day 1. I thought it was due to the large wide tire. Thought it was completely normal. How do i get this fixed?

DubS You can try using spray grease like white Lithium, and spraying it into the seam where the upper bearing is. It will run down into the bearings. If that doesn’t help, then you will need to take the bearings out and repack them.

FluidFreeride has a really good video on it. It’s the original Burn E with the double lock collar, but the procedure is exactly the same as ours, save for the extra collar nut on the original E.

It’s a pain the the ass, but doable if you have patience and the correct tools.

That being said, my notch is really bad. If yours is minor, then try spraying Lithium grease.

Okay. Thanks for the info. This is really my first “real deal” scooter so I’m not so well versed in what to know or expect from a riding experience. I just always noticed it when the scooter was off and i was just moving the handle bar side to side full lock and thought to myself wth is that I’m feelin n is that normal? Riding the scooter at speed, it isn’t too noticeable but at slower speeds, it definitely is. I’ll have to get some grease and give that a shot.

I like to think I’m somewhat mechanically inclined but I’m not the type to do things the first time on my own unless it’s super easy stuff. Moderately difficult stuff, i definitely like to see videos n such before tackling jobs and then i feel much more comfortable with things, especially if i don’t have the proper tools which in this case, if it’s a special tool, then I’m certain i don’t.

DubS One question. Do you have the damper installed?
If so, it should be set to around +13 clicks from the lowest ( - ) setting for normal riding. Any higher and it gets tough to maneuver at lower speeds.
