So, I bought my XR Elite in August 2021, and recently I have been noticing that the battery is not lasting long at all, and now will not even let me ride more than 10 ft without it completely shutting off even after being charged overnight.
I knew something was wrong with this because it started to happen over the last 2 weeks and has gotten exponentially worse in those 2 weeks, like I said to the point I can’t ride more than 10 feet without the scooter turning off and not coming back on even, when I charged it for an entire night.
Well, seeing how I am pretty handy and know how electrical systems work I decide to take the battery out and test it. Here is what the testing showed:
-battery charged until it reached 32.8v(about where it should be fully charged.)
-tested the voltage with a multimeter in between every test.
After being charged to 32.8v I used the probes on the multimeter to test voltage. The voltage this time showed, 32.8v +/- .1v during a duration of 1 minute of testing voltage with the probes.
Next, I plugged the battery back into the scooter and turned the scooter on, and turned the LEDs on, I left it like this for 3 minutes. After 3 minutes I tested the voltage again. 32.8v +/- .1v during a duration of 1 minute of testing the voltage.
Next, I reconnected the battery and turned the scooter on again. This time I let the LEDs still be powered, but also let the motor run freely, under no weight load, for 1 minute. Then turned the scooter off and tested the voltage. 32.8v +/- .1v during a duration of 1 minute of testing the voltage.
Finally, I connected the battery again and turned the scooter on, with the LEDs on and the motor freely spinning, with no weight load on the motor. I was planning on letting this test run for 5 minutes because 2 days ago I tried a similar test where I had the same battery charged to 32.8v +/- .1v for a duration of 1 minute of testing that time as well. The test I ran 2 days ago I connected the battery and turned the scooter on with the LEDs turned on and the motor running freely under no weight load for the motor and the test I did 2 days ago the scooter turned off completely after 20 minutes. However, in the test I did today under almost the exact same variables thinking 5 minutes of run time would let me see a voltage change. Well the scooter shut off completely after approximately 1.5 minutes and after testing the voltage it was 9v. Completely dead.
I am kinda thinking that this battery was made with the added feature of planned obsolescence, however I will continue tests, but this time letting the battery charge to 32.8v and then run as long as it can with the LEDs turned on and the motor running freely like the test 2 days ago, to really find out.
Btw all these tests were done using the OEM charger that came with the scooter and in a temperature controlled environment that was kept around 69 degrees Fahrenheit through the entirety of testing.
Let me know what you all think. I would really like to hear if anyone else has had a similar issue.
