Depends honestly because if you live in a very hilly area it is but if you live in relatively flat surfaces not really but dual motors do give you that extra power you need at the cost of draining the battery
Safely isn’t affected by how many motors you have it’s all about the person riding it. You are controlling the scooter and it is up to your ability to perceive the dangers and your judgement to get you out of harms way. The dirt mound accident your son had, it was probably due to the lost of traction and stability because mole dirt mounds are loose dirt. Was there a big hole?
Depending on the incline of the hill. Let’s say you have a Vsett 9+ (dual motors) and a emove cruiser (single rear motor) I picked these 2 scooters because they fall in the same class. The Vsett 9+ has 2 650w motors and the emove cruiser has a 1000w rear motor you would think the emove would win because of how big its motor are however the Vsett 9+ would beat it because of peak output the motors generate the Vsett motor peak out is 1100w for a motor totaling it to 2200w since it has 2 motors and the emove has a 1000w motor with a peak output of 1600w.
Hydraulic is better in stopping power but they’re more maintenance because they require mineral oil
Sitting down is more for comfort I don’t know much about it safety wise because I never experienced sitting down and riding

Thank you, ItsAqua, for a prompt reply. For fall, he hit the mole mound on a small speed. I guess the front wheel just stopped hitting small obstale, and he fell forward (small speed, so it was no damage). I just wonder if with 2WD, the front wheel just pulled itself on the top of the mound.
Also, another obstacle we regularly have to overcome is lifting scooter up onto sidecurb stone. Currently, we have to stop, and manually pull front wheel up, then add throttle so rear is pushing scooter on the top. I was wondering if 2WD scooter can pull itself onto it.

YuriS I don’t recommend hopping up curbs since it might damage the scooter. Depending how deep and wide the hole was I don’t think dual or single motors would have much effect if it was a big or small mound

ItsAqua Definitely second picture. No hole, but just small (maybe 6-8 inches) pile of dirt. Thank you!

I went around a group of geese as they were blocking the sidewalk. When I went thru the grass my scoot sunk to the deck in mush. I jumped over the front but the scooter stayed upright. I always leave mine on dual motors. Range didn’t “improve” with just one motor, and it was extra slow off the line.

Your son is getting comfy on the scoot and like every young man, we want a bit of extra power. Make sure is helmet is in compliance with e-powered bikes and that he wears it. Me personally, I think sitting on a electric kick scooter would be twitchy. I’m constantly shifting my feet for various terrain changes and I think a seat would limit my reflexes.

sc00ter have you ever had to deal with squirrels but they are literally so stupid at times and I nearly ran them over multiple times on the sidewalk and road because they would run to the other side then halfway they would change directions. I clip a squirrels tail one time because I saw hime running to the other side so I swerved away making a huge gap between us only to have him run back and having his tail clipped and me nearly crashing.

YuriS that’s a traction issue because the dirt is loose the tires don’t really have much solid surface to grip on to the tires will play a factors as well does your scooter have wide tires?

PaulN if I ran one over I wouldn’t feel bad at all because I tried to avoid it but it had other ideas

I’ve had this happen 3 times on a motorcycle ride. 2 times were just straight line and I’m not swervin for no damn squirrel but luckily I missed it but the other time, I was at full lean on a high speed curve (_50mph) carvin thru canyons and it caught my eye but i just stuck with my vision lookin ahead out of the turn. Luckily, i didn’t lose control but the poor squirrel lost that road crossing.

DubS I nearly crashed on the sidewalk doing 15 mph because a squirrel couldn’t decide it it was going to run up a tree or not

YuriS 2 1200w motors but you’ll have to see what’s the incline on the hill the steeper and the incline the scooter is rated for
