I’m VERY new to the whole e-scooter thing 🤪 so I appreciate the patience & help 😁
I’m considering an e-scooter for commute. There’s a couple of steep roads, I’m about 125kg and usually have 5kg laptop bag as well.

The following scooters have been suggested by a local dealer:

The Kaabo Mantis base V2 (the teacher budget friendly option)
The Nami burn-e 2 pure

Willem7 I been riding motorized scooters for 21 years and I always tell people the same thing.
Expect to break your first scooter in under a month. second under 3 months.

So first one I do not suggest spending over $500-800 (Segway) Because no one wrecks a $2,000 scooter and gets out of the hospital to buy another one.

Wrecking a $500 scooter hurts the wallet, $1000 scrapes and bruises…$2000+ and my broken foot is still healing.

Keep in mind your ability to ride is not the factor here… its the ability of drivers to recognize your not kicking your scooter and going over 20 MPH.

Looks like the kaabo is around 40 lbs lighter so if you plan on carrying this thing up stairs anywhere, then that’s the one. If you can afford an overall nicer but bigger scooter with more range, are in no rush and can wait about 6 weeks for delivery, then nami from pegascooter (from China directly). Burn e2 can be had for roughly 2200-2300 shipped to your door for the 28ah version. Burn e2 is what i went with and it is way more scooter than I’ll ever need but it sure is fun once you get used to it. And it beats paying retail which is close to 4k with tax.

I purchased a fast scooter for my first scooter. Just keep your new choice in eco for awhile and get comfortable on it before going full power. My old (50 years old) butt got jerked around a few times and had a couple of close calls but I got it under control now. I dabble on flat land bikes, play on a skateboard once in awhile and have a motorcycle background.

Buy a good helmet and wear it!

You have a local dealer? If so how lucky. That means they must offer test rides. My nearest ecooter dealer is 200 miles away but when/if I’m ready to upgrade WyrRyds is the first place I’m heading to.

sc00ter buy knee pads and gloves as well I just had a accident today rode on some tall grass that has been unkept to avoid some idiots that kept hogging the sidewalk that see me coming and it was covering a hole and drove right into the hole. Got a dent and some scratches on my VSETT now with a few bruises and a nice little scrape on my leg

ItsAqua Emove cruiser would be the most budget friendly option I think you might be able to get the 7% discount if you’re a teacher and there’s a seat option as well or you can get the Emove roadrunner it’s a seated scooter and it’s on sale rn

I am from New Zealand. I am not aware of any scooter below NZ $2500 that can carry 130kg up hill if needed…. The Nami burn-e Pure is more scooter than I’ll ever need, but it’s also like I said the only one I know of that ticks all the boxes. I’ll have to save up for it….. $4800 🥲🤪

I guess you don’t like to read since you quoted a retail price of burn e2 when you can get it for half that price as I already mentioned.

I was told the emove cruiser would not handle 130kg up hill, because it only has one motor?

Willem7 I don’t know if that’s true or not but I would go with the roadrunner instead just to be on the safe side but your best bet would be getting a more powerful scooter like the nami or the kaabo wolf king for the hills

ItsAqua maybe even a Apollo scooter rn they’re doing a Black Friday sale so now would be the best time to get a Apollo scooter. Apollo does have a lot of problems especially with customer support and a few quality issues with some of their scooters some people have problems some don’t just a friendly notice.

No sense in being sarcastic or nasty…. I did read it and simply stated what we have to pay in NZ. From China would take way longer under current supply chain issues to NZ. Have a nice day 😁

Is it worth putting rear view mirrors on? I’ll definitely be getting protective gear 🤪

Willem7 yes that way you won’t have to look over your shoulder most of the time

Willem7 I wouldn’t say I’m ok got a bruised leg that also happens to have a scrape in the bruised area just lucky I only gotten away with one scrape on one leg I am now definitely getting knee/shin guards and motorcycle gloves now

ItsAqua like you said, glad it’s not worse. I might need to upgrade my bicycle gloves 🙃

ItsAqua I’ve only had one “interaction” with a car so far, and the fact that I was wearing full armour saved me completely. I ended up shoulder tackling his rear fender doing maybe 10kmh (down from the 50kmh I was doing before I saw him decide to randomly turn in front of me) and I walked away without a scratch. I stubbed my toe, and that was the worst of it.
